MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WRN) — “Nearly perfectly polarized.” That’s how Marquette Law School Poll Director Charles Franklin describes the partisan divide over President Donald Trump’s job performance.
“92% of Republicans approve of the job he’s doing. Go to the bottom and Democrats, it’s just 2% of Democrats who approve,” Franklin said. “So this is the gigantic, nearly perfectly polarized pattern that we see on a lot of questions we ask about Trump or about policies that are most closely connected to Trump.”
A lot has happened since the poll was conducted February 19-26. The president this week imposed new tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. The poll found Wisconsinites generally view tariffs unfavorably, although there’s also a partisan divide on that.
