Jackie Robinson becomes first African American MLB player

On this day in US history, Jackie Robinson, at 28 years old, became the first African American player in Major League Baseball history on April,15 1947, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He broke the color barrier that plagued the sport for more than 50 years; his number, 42, was the first number ever retired by all MLB teams
