MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — A Republican authored bill reversing Department of Public Instruction test standards was approved along party lines in the Wisconsin Assembly on Wednesday. Bill author Representative Robert Wittke:
“There’s no legislative oversight on the scoring and assessment of our kids, so this bill will establish that it will take us back to where we were before the health emergency and then it will tie us to the national assessment governing body so we will be once again allowed to compare ourselves to other states,” Wittke said.
The bill reverses changes made to state testing standards made under State Superintendent Jill Underly. Underly is up for reelection in April.
