On this day in US history, one of America’s most popular and universally loved presidents, John F. Kennedy, was born to a politically and socially prominent family in Brookline, Massachusetts, on May 29, 1917. He would become the first American President to be born and then serve as president in the 20th century. He was also the youngest man ever elected to the office of the president; however, he would be murdered in his prime by assassin Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963 while driving through Dallas, Texas, in his convertible. Kennedy is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, where an eternal flame burns in his memory. Kennedy is remembered for his work in economic and social policies, as well as his efforts in civil rights and funding education.
