On this day in US history, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Beer and Wine Revenue Act on March 22, 1933. This would strike down the 18th Amendment as well as the Volstead Acts, both of which helped to bring the US into what’s now known as the “Prohibition” era in 1919. President Roosevelt was not a fan of prohibition, and in the early stages of his presidential career would sign the 21st Amendment, ending prohibition.
