Manitowoc Chartered as a Village

This week in Wisconsin history, the city of Manitowoc was chartered as a village on March 6th, 1851. They would become incorporated as a city on March 12th, 1870. The city is known as the “Maritime Capital of Wisconsin.” It has a full, rich history of shipbuilding as well as brewing.
